How the 200m Range Zigbee Gateway Works
Gateway as a Hub
The gateway acts as a bridge between your Wi-Fi router and all Zigbee smart devices (locks, sensors, switches, bulbs, etc.).
It connects to the internet via Wi-Fi and communicates with devices using the Zigbee protocol.
200m Range Explained
In open space, the gateway can transmit and receive Zigbee signals up to 200 meters.
Indoors, due to walls, furniture, or concrete, the effective range usually becomes 30–50 meters.
Triple Antenna Advantage
With 3 antennas, the signal coverage is wider, stronger, and more stable.
This helps multiple devices stay connected at the same time without lag or disconnection.
Step-by-Step Working Process
You power on the gateway and connect it to your Wi-Fi router.
Using a mobile app (like Tuya, Smart Life, etc.), you configure the gateway.
The gateway then pairs with Zigbee devices and adds them to the network.
When you give a command from your smartphone (e.g., unlock a smart lock or turn on a light), the command flows like this:
Mobile App → Wi-Fi → Gateway → Zigbee Device
Zigbee uses low power, high-speed communication, so devices respond quickly and consume less battery.
Mesh Network Support
Zigbee devices form a mesh network, meaning they can pass signals to each other.
This further extends range and improves reliability across large homes, offices, or farms
Realtime Scenario
Morning
You wake up in the bedroom. The temperature sensor notices it’s a bit warm (or cold).
It tells the gateway. The gateway sends a signal to the smart switch in the living room / to some fan or cooler to adjust.
Leaving house
You open the main entrance, the door sensor triggers “door opened” and then “door closed.”
As you close the door, you lock the smart lock. The gateway knows door is closed and locked.
Arriving back in evening
When you open the front door, the door sensor tells the gateway “door opened.”
Immediately, the gateway tells the COB light in foyer to turn on (so you can enter without fumbling in dark).
As you walk in, the motion sensor in foyer or hall detects motion → tells gateway → gateway turns on hallway lights.
Night time (when you sleep upstairs)
If someone tries to come in, the door sensor triggers → gateway sends alert to your phone.
Also, hallway lights stay off if there’s no motion. But if there is motion (you wake at night, need the bathroom), motion sensor detects you → turns on a dim COB light so you don’t stub your toes.
Weather / climate
In summer, bedroom gets hot and humid. The temperature/humidity sensor sends info to gateway.
Gateway can turn on an AC / fan (if that is also connected via smart switch) to make it comfortable.
